FROM ACROSS THE POND: Young Runaways

Great songs induce: head bobbing, knee tapping, reveling in nostalgia and of course, the playing of an imaginary violin. Young Runaways, originating from Midlands, UK boasts six members, including a pair of siblings and a hell of a lot of instruments. The band offers orchestra sounds reminiscent of Ra Ra Riot, drum beats similar to Tokyo Police Club and a less eerily sad version of Ben Birdwell’s, lead singer of Band of Horses, voice. Young Runaways‘ first album There is a World Outside, is an indie instrumental mash up, with each track unapologetically swooning for the past or longing after a lover. These up and coming Brits manage to create sentimental folk-indie rock without duplicating their many predecessors of the same niche.
