SoCal Report: Kissing Cousins

June 22. 2011 | By Frances Capell

Is there anything better than a bunch of girls making heavy music? It’s doubtful. LA’s all female ensemble Kissing Cousins deliver some dark, sex-tinged rock that’s sure to blow your mind. Songwriter Heather Bray Heywood’s breathy vocals over noisy guitars and pounding drums make for a truly haunting combination. Inspired by her rural Alabama upbringing, Heywood’s lyrics explore the demise of four female protagonists on their latest EP, Unfortunate End. Her voice lends just enough femininity to the ballsy rock the band dishes out. Beware: these ladies WILL melt your face off.
