Rubblebucket’s Omega La La is the type of album that naturally fits any frame of mind – whether you’re having a gloomy, melancholy day or you’re feeling especially chipper, this eight-piece ensemble from Brooklyn, NY has effective components to match your mood. Considering I am one moody bitch, it wasn’t long before this album found its way into my daily rotation.

The obvious is clearly noted on their website; “Rubblebucket sounds like a kaleidoscope looks — a continually changing pattern of ebullient drum beats, harmonies and horn exclamation…” The dual male/female vocals by Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth definitely add a wholesome sweetness to songs like “Silly Fathers,” “Raining” and “Triangular Daisies.” Notable songs are trumpet-blaring dance tunes, “Came Out A Lady,” “Worker” and the beautiful “Pile of Rage” which starts off with lullaby-esque melodies and then the brasswind instrument (Trumpet) takes it on a dark boisterous voyage somewhere in the middle. Rubblebucket is fun and this album makes me want to dance. That’s not an easy feat when I am in a shitty mood.
