PICTURE THIS: Cold War Kids + Milo Greene @ The Satellite, LA 2/20/12

February 22. 2012 | By Frank Starke

Milo Greene‘s recent residency show at The Satellite in Los Angeles turned out to be one of those WTF nights. Just a few days prior The Satellite announced a special guest would be playing at 9pm. Just as scheduled, at the strike of 9 o’clock, a band came out and started setting up their gear. There were a few whispers in the crowd as some recognized the singer with his distinctive tattoos and weathered guitar. It wasn’t until he said, “Fuck it, let’s get started” and belted out the first note that everyone in the crowd realized it was LA’s own long-time indie rockers, Cold War Kids. They ripped through a quick set of songs with very little crowd interaction and left the stage breaking down their own gear just like any other opening band. Surprisingly when Milo Greene came on to close the night there was very little mention of the special guest. I guess that’s rock ‘n roll.

Although you would think many showed up just to see who the special guest would be, most of the crowd was there to see Milo Greene. They brought as much if not more energy to the stage as their predecessor. If you haven’t seen Milo Greene live don’t miss the last night of their residency at The Satellite next Monday, February 27th.
