TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 8/16/18 Edition

August 16. 2018 | By Wayne Jessup

After 5 years on ice, Swearin’ is back with a brand new LP, Fall Into The Sun, due out October 5th on Merge Records. “Untitled (LA)” is our second taste, showing clearly that the fire remains. Chicago’s Clearance have just dropped At Your Leisure, courtesy of Topshelf Records with “Destination Wedding” serving as the ideal intro to their jangly goodness. Bakersfield, California’s Fawns Of Love bring us dream pop from an unexpected place with their February single “Zine Days” still reverberating around The Nest.

The good folks at Carpark Records never let us down and they definitely merit a gold star for putting New Zealand’s The Beths into our orbit. “Happy Unhappy” is the relentlessly catchy track from their forthcoming LP, Future Me Hates Me. Yowler (Maryn Jones) is back, with new LP Black Dog In My Path out October 12th on Double Double Whammy. “WTFK” shows a move towards a heavier sound, ably assisted by engineer/producer Kyle Gilbride of Swearin’, just to bring things full circle.
