TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 7/8/2021 Edition

July 08. 2021 | By Wayne Jessup

Welcome back to another week of Tracks. Following up last year’s Nest favorite full-length Dias Raros, Pamplona, Spain’s Melenas is back with a new single “Osa Polar”, their cover of Grauzone’s “Eisbar”, which finds the ladies dialing up the motorik to stunning effect.

Up next, “Something Real” makes perfect use of the trip-hop feels for the atmospheric 2nd single from Montreal’s Fhang, out now on Hidden Ship, following up their debut “Vaudevillian”. “Shrug” is the new single from Lunar Vacation, the Atlanta quartet, just signed to Keeled Scales, and on the bill for this year’s Shaky Knees Fest.

Closing out this week, Bnny is the Chicago-based project driven by Jess Viscius. With a band comprised of her sister and old friends, their debut LP Everything taps a hushed 3rd album Velvet Underground vibe, with much going on under the surface. It’s due out 8/20 on Fire Talk Records.
