TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 3/11/2021 Edition

March 11. 2021 | By Wayne Jessup

Welcome back to another Tracks; this week we’re digging into some of our most anticipated upcoming LP’s. Set the coordinates for New Orleans, as Dawn Richard gets us rolling with a double shot from her new LP Second Line, due out 4/30 on Merge. Interlude “Pilot (a lude)” sets up the jaw dropping “Bussifame”.

Popping over to London, “If You Had A Sister” heralds the return of the unstoppable Fightmilk. Along with first single “I’m Starting To Think You Don’t Even Want To Go To Space”, It showcases the new LP Contender, releasing 5/14 on The Reckless Yes, a worthy successor to their debut Not With That Attitude.

Brooklyn-based nasimiYu marks another welcome return, with the hypnotic “Watercolour” serving as an entry to the forthcoming Potions, out 5/7/21 on Figure Eight. It’s her first full-length since 2012’s Rules Aren’t Real, and based on the early evidence, she took her time and did it right.

Chicago’s Horsegirl brings this week home with “Ballroom Dance Scene”, the title track of their EP from last fall that serves as a capsule history of the trio’s work to date. It’s being brought to the physical world in the form of a 7” release on 4/2 via Sonic Cathedral.
