TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 12/10/2020 Edition

December 10. 2020 | By Wayne Jessup

While this year finally draws to a merciful close, the music goes on. Kicking off this week is a brand new single from East LA’s The Tracks. “You People” is absolutely locked and loaded, our first taste of their forthcoming sophomore LP.

Cloud Nothings have not taken their quarantine lying down, exploring their outer limits on a number of projects, as well as making space for a new formal release. The Shadow I Remember is due out next year on Carpark Records, and lead single “Am I Something” is a coiled anthem that retains Dylan Baldi’s innate gift for hooks.

Back in the Bay Area, Oakland’s Bastet have unleashed a new single, “Reign of Chaos”, sharpening their take on the darker side of things, and proving a worthy follow up to last year’s Lucid Duality EP.

After a brief run in the second half of the last decade, Minneapolis’ The Soviet Machines have hooked up with Jack Endino (Mudhoney, etc) for “Get Your Kicks”, a promising preview of their upcoming self-titled LP, due on 1/1/21 via DC-Jam Records.

Sending us out this week, it’s We Are Joiners, a lo-fi duo from GroningenNetherlands“Alternators” is the propulsive opening track on Clients + Carriers, a collection of their two 2020 EP’s, released on cassette last week courtesy of Totally Real Records. The band are currently in the studio, working on their upcoming LP Nora.
