SoCal Report: Chelan

July 22. 2011 | By Trina N. Green

When the LA duo of Jennifer Grady and Justin Hosford get together to work on fresh music, electro- dreamscapiness comes calling and tends to be the end result. Chelan builds an elegant bridge between seemingly disparate elements of acoustic instruments, electronic, folk, and indie rock, Chelan boasts modern electric pop with a high artistic nature. Jennifer’s precious and perfect vocals convey the warmth and cool of it all simultaneously, so complimentary Jennifer and Justin are to one another particularly on their third and recent album release, Towers. There’s so much sonic light and weight going on and one of their greatest strengths is their ability to craft sweet and reflective song structures and lush harmonies (check “Sunrise”) that are easy on the ear yet maintain a sense of wonder… and I kind of dare you to find one damned thing wrong with the track “Checked In”.
