Straight out of Long Beach is Bethpage Black, a four-man self-proclaimed “sickle-pop” band that offers up teen angstitious alternative rock with shredding guitars and aggressive rhythmic beats. Frontman Matt Carmichael’s wailing vocals don’t dance but crash in perfect synchronicity with Davin Givhan’s grinding guitar while the drums and bass set the crimson emblazoned backdrop for the pair. Drawing inspiration from The Used and 30 Seconds to Mars, Bethpage Black worked with local music legend, Ikey Owens (The Mars Volta), to produce their debut EP, Opera-Comique. The EP holds seven tracks that could easily be at home on any Fast & Furious or Transformers Hollywood soundtrack. Quickly generating hype their tunes have been featured regularly on KROQ’s Sunday night Locals Only. Bethpage Black will be turning green this St. Patty’s day for an 18+ show at Key Club in West Hollywood.
