TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 3/12/20 Edition

March 12. 2020 | By Wayne Jessup

After ending the previous episode on Tame Impala, it’s a smooth segue to this week’s kickoff, moving over to Sydney, Australia for the Lazy Eyes debut single “Cheesy Love Song”. It’s a delightful psych confection that sets the table for a forthcoming EP. “Reeboks”, from Montreal’s Rudy, mirrors the same scenario, a basement pop gem of a single, leaving us wanting more. Their debut EP is still in the TBD stage. Check out the arresting video for “Reeboks”, shot by Zinnia Blue.

Catholic Action (Glasgow) are up next with “People Don’t Protest Enough”, from their new LP Celebrated By Strangers, due out 3/27 on Palo Santo Records. They will be in Austin in March for SXSW. Yael Naïm is back with her newest creation, Night Dreams, out 3/20. “How Will I Know” is the single, represented here in a captivating live take, recorded at Studio Ferber, Paris. Her sole US date scheduled so far is 5/9 at National Sawdust, Brooklyn.

Ending this week on a high note, Peel Dream Magazine is back with “Emotional Devotion Creator”, from their new LP Agitrop Alterna, out 4/3 on Slumberland/Tough Love.
