T.O.L.D. stands for The Order of Life and Death, a cultish name for an indie rock musician who has the Devil looming by his side. The UK-based artist isn’t really perturbed by this situation. He knows that through a David Bowie-like tone, he could create something operatic (“Master of the Species”). Although he talks of how knowledge is human suffering, the instrumentation that rides with him always wants to bring the new day to ward off the darkness of night. With lines about having his free will taken away (“There’s No Truth”) and believing that religion can be his (“Return Forever”), T.O.L.D. shows his strength as someone who loves the abstract. When gospel tones surround him, the artist makes the best of good and evil.
