Who says that folk can’t make you dance? If there’s one thing New York’s SOFI TUKKER demonstrate, it’s that the charango is a mean weapon when paired with low synths and drums wanting to drive their beats through barricades. Their “Matadora” is as it implies, a track that runs with the bulls it weaves and circles around. “Drinkee” has a catchy electric guitar riff leading the charge, along with foreign drums and warped vocals to channel a fast tempo, a revitalization and modern “Macarena” minus the awkwardness of community center dance competitions. They’re on tour with The Knocks and Cardiknox through early February, having an upcoming EP, Soft Animals, to boot. They’re the bulls in the china shop to catch early.
