Who says that folk can’t make you dance? If there’s one thing New York’s SOFI TUKKER demonstrate, it’s that the charango is a mean weapon when paired with low synths and drums wanting to drive their beats through barricades. Their “Matadora” is as it implies, a track that runs with the bulls it weaves and circles around. “Drinkee” has a catchy electric guitar riff leading the charge, along with foreign drums and warped vocals to channel a fast tempo, a revitalization and modern “Macarena” minus the awkwardness of community center dance competitions. They’re on tour with The Knocks and¬†Cardiknox¬†through early February, having an upcoming EP, Soft Animals, to boot. They’re the bulls in the china shop to catch early.
