TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 3/24/2022 Edition

March 24. 2022 | By Wayne Jessup

Welcome back to Tracks, getting it started with Slang, and a pitch perfect cover of the late Mark Lanegan’s “Hit The City”. The Janet Weiss-directed video is an evocative love letter to Portland. Their new LP Cockroach In A Ghost Town comes out 5/27 on Kill Rock Stars, and they’ll be appearing in SF at Bottom of the Hill on 6/3. “New Beginning” sets the tone for the highly anticipated second LP from LA trio Automatic. Their 2019 debut Signal was a firm Nest favorite, and new LP Excess is due 6/24 on Stones Throw.

The unstoppable John Reis is back in action with Plosives, teaming up with Rob Crow (Pinback), Atom Willard (Against Me!), and Jordan Clark (Mrs Magician). “Hit The Breaks” is from their self-titled debut LP, out last week on Swami Records, and they’re currently on tour with Meatwave, gracing Bottom of the Hill, SF on 4/8. This week’s West Coast-centric theme is brought to a satisfying conclusion in, where else?, Rancho Cucamonga. Freshly signed to Dais Records, Cold Gawd announce their arrival with “Moving To California in March”. Don’t miss them tonight at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, and/or at the Haven in Pomona, CA on 3/27.
