LA’s Regrettes are primed for a breakout 2017 with the release of their debut LP, Feel Your Feelings Fool, this month. It’s brash, messy straightforward punk that serves as a showcase for Lydia Night’s teen feminist anthems. “A Living Human Girl” sets the template for what’s to come, with the relentlessly catchy “Til’ Tomorrow” and the moody “Pale Skin” upping the ante considerably. Like Cherry Glazzer or Barcelona’s Mourn, they’ll have to put up with an undue focus on their age at the expense of their craft, but the band has the goods to back it up, and based on the evidence therein, thickness of their skin should not be an issue.
Having opened for Tacocat and Sleigh Bells, their live sets are already garnering attention. This coming Thursday, 1/26, they’ll take over Amoeba, Hollywood for a free all-ages show, followed by Girlschool 2017 on Friday, 1/27 at the Bootleg Theater in LA, as well as an upcoming tour with The Frights and The Garden, making a stop at Noise Pop ’17 on Saturday, 2/25 at The Chapel, setting up an appearance at this year’s SXSW!
