There is a constant ground-shaking rumble going on in Olympia, Washington, and it’s courtesy of the queer hardcore folks known as SLOUCH. The seething distaste for toxic society is what’s causing this band to create fields of moshing, both inside and outside their venues. It’s not a surprise that Tannrr, guitarist of G.L.O.S.S., contributes to the heavy punk sound, especially along the stampeding drums of “My Turn” and the strum-until-the-hand-bleeds plays of “Filth.” Lyrically, SLOUCH are equally as heavy, indicating a hair-tearing desperation in “Trich” and a fractured living in the metal-inspired “Learning to Live.” The group isn’t swimming through sewage in their Toxic Bitch EP, instead choosing to blaze through the “toxic hellworld” Mad Max style.
