PICTURE THIS: Rubblebucket @ The Boom Boom Room 11/3/11

November 07. 2011 | By David Korman

Fans of Rubblebucket in San Francisco had to wait until 12am to hear the positively charged 8-piece play their explosive brand of funky happy dance rock at the Boom Boom Room. They played a marathon set from 12am to 2:20am, highlighting an assortment of songs from all three of their full length albums, including “Kuma” from Rose’s Dream, “Landing” and “Bikes” from the self titled Rubblebucket, and “Rescue Ranger,” “Silly Fathers,” and “Came Out Of A Lady” from Omega La La.

Every single song inspires smiles, dancing feet, and a glow of life that can be seen shining out from each pair of eyes in the room. Rubblebucket spreads love and joy with catchy complicated rhythms and melodies. With the tightest horn section (Adam Dodson and Alex Toth) on the road this year, Kalmia Traver’s quirky dancing, baritone sax, and beautiful vocals, Ian Hersey’s uplifting guitar solos, Darby Wolf’s synth melodies, along with Dave Cole and Craig Myers on drums and percussion, and Jordan Brooks’ bass, compel you to sing along while spinning, jumping, and frolicking in the music. This sound is elegant and unstoppable.

My dream show would be Chromeo opening for Rubblebucket co-headlining with YACHT at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. One can dream.
