HEAR THIS: Melody’s Echo Chamber

November 02. 2012 | By Wayne Jessup

Taking an abrupt left turn from her last band, My Bees Garden, Melody Prochet has dropped a noisy dream pop gem in Melody’s Echo Chamber, out now on Fat Possum Records. Working with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, they’ve conjured up a fascinating mélange of ’60s lounge, krautrock, skuzzy guitar, psych rock, and breathy vocals that vacillate between English and French, built on a veritable cathedral of bass lines. The album is full of tracks brimming with sonic detail, such as “Endless Shore” and “Crystallized,” which can be heard below. The entrancing video for the lead track, “I Follow You,” directed by Laurie Lassalle, will suck you in. Fresh off a string of dates opening up for the Raveonettes, Melody’s Echo Chamber is turning heads.
