HEAR THIS: Divine Fits
With a heavy heart on May 17, 2012, Handsome Furs tweeted that the band was no more after Dan Boeckner and his wife Alexi Perry spent six years on the project together. Four days thereafter, a new beast of a band was unleashed on the world via Twitter. Enter Divine Fits, an amazing amalgamation of bands whose members include Dan Boeckner from the recently dissolved Handsome Furs and on-hiatus Wolf Parade, Britt Daniel (front man for Spoon), and drummer Sam Brown of the punk band New Bomb Turks. Name recognition alone arguably places an unfair amount of expectation on the musical output of this super group, but rest assured, if the first single, “Would That Not Be Nice” is a preview of what’s in store on Divine Fits’ forthcoming debut album, expect all of the best aspects of what these guys do in their bread and butter bands to be melded into one divine little package.
The band’s album titled A Thing Called The Divine Fits is out on Merge Records on August 28, 2012.
