TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 9/14/18

This week kicks off with one of our most anticipated records of the year, introducing new Saddle Creek signee Portland’s Black Belt Eagle Scout. “Indians Never Die” is a slow burning gem. Full-length Mother Of My Children is due out 9/14.

Sylvan Esso needs no introduction here and have joined forces with Collections of Colonies of Bees for a cover of Califone’s indie hymn “Funeral Singers”. To hear it is to believe.

Somewhere between Shopping, Priests, and Downtown Boys lie Brooklyn’s Bodega, and it’s not a bad intersection to occupy. Like its namesake, you go in for what you want but Bodega has what you need. “How Did This Happen?” Is the lead cut on Endless Scroll, out now on What’s Your Rupture Records.

SF-based Text Me Records makes a splash with a brand new Dot Vom EP, Melatonin. “Arroyo Burro” is another builder, growing into a gloriously noisy track by its conclusion.

Finishing off the way we began with a discovery that might well be part of our Nest year end conversation: Lala Lala’s “Destroyer” raises a high bar for her full-length The Lamb, due 9/14 on Hardly Art.
