PICTURE THIS: Knapsack With Seahaven @ Echoplex, LA 10/25/13
Fifteen years ago emo-rock pioneers Knapsack called it quits, leaving a void in the burgeoning scene. While members of the band continued to work on new projects after Knapsack’s split, those who truly loved the group kept the hope alive that they would someday see their beloved band again. Last Friday, those fans got their wish. Blair Shenan, Colby Mancasola, Sergie Loobkoff, and Ed Breckenridge took the stage at the Echoplex to a warm welcome. Sometimes these types of reunions can seem forced, but in this case the group just felt like a group of friends happy to be playing together again.
Opening act Seahaven drew a younger crowd to kick off the night, clearly a group on the trajectory for big things. Although young, the influence of the early emo movement, of which Knapsack was a part, is evident in their sound.
