HEAR THIS: Brother George

November 16. 2012 | By Claire Wohlers

Brother George is a new favorite of ours. Whether it’s in the car or at a friend’s house, this band is definitely conducive to some major jamming. It’s clear that this Chicago-based four-piece had a range of inspiration for their dynamic debut album, Big Piney. Some songs seem more ’60s rock inspired, some almost pop-y, and still, others seem closer to modern folk. Their sound, while sometimes ethereal, is always very tight and put together. This combo is most clearly evidenced in their dreamy
strumming and harmonies in conjunction with their steady, upbeat rhythm, something we’re always into. If you’re looking for something new and ’60s style folk rock is your deal, check them out HERE.
