FROM ACROSS THE POND: Boat To Row

April 23. 2012 | By Amanda Penlington

Birmingham, UK may be the birthplace of ’70s rockers Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, but its latest export is the uplifting harmony-filled indie folk of Boat To Row. The band’s intricate sound is a charming interplay of acoustic guitar, bass, percussion, violin, mandolin, and banjo. These basic ingredients are swapped between the multi-instrumentalist band members, making Boat To Row’s music as invigorating as a breath of fresh air. The beautiful harmonies on the Grassmarket EP range in focus from love to the hardships of working class life. We recommend you check out Grassmarket now on Boat To Row’s Bandcamp site.
