HEAR THIS: Bright Moments

March 14. 2012 | By Wayne Jessup

Kelly Pratt is a multi-instrumentalist whiz who’s toured with Beirut, Arcade Fire, and LCD Soundsystem. As if that wasn't enough, he's also done studio work with St. Vincent and on the forthcoming Passion Pit.

Bright Moments, (name swiped lovingly from a Rashaan Roland Kirk LP), is out on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label, and it’s an in

credible stew of many musics, from New Orleans jazz to 8 bit to synth pop with a lyrical bent reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens on the tracks “Milwaukee” or “The Sailor.” It’s a wealth of nuances equally suited to headphones or rocking the party, and in the end, the impeccable arrangements carry the day.
