FROM THE TECH NEST: KCRW Launches “Music Mine” App For Spotify

June 26. 2012 | By Collin Welbon

KCRW (89.9 FM) recently launched their Music Mine app for Spotify, so Spotify users can now go on a musical journey with handpicked tracks by the LA public radio station’s legendary DJ staff. The Music Mine for Spotify app is tailored after the critically-acclaimed iPad app of the same name that was launched last fall. KCRW’s Music Mine for Spotify app displays up to 100 tracks at a time and is updated daily in sequence with their on-air playlists. Listeners can create a unique listening experience by streaming KCRW playlists and adding them to their own collection to listen to in the future. Listeners can also search for and explore music that has the KCRW stamp of approval and enjoy the music from the artists that is provided by Spotify.

“Spotify’s musical offerings are tremendous and as music consumers adapt this technology into their listening habit, KCRW will be right there offering a curated list of the best music from around the world,” said Director of New Media for KCRW, Anil Dewan.

The Music Mine app is free and available for download and installation through the Spotify desktop client. For more information, visit www.kcrw.com/musicmine.
