ALBUM REVIEW: “Be My Thrill” The Weepies

The Weepies
Be My Thrill
[Nettwerk]

Be My Thrill is The Weepies at their absolute best. The husband/wife duo spent well over a year making this album; writing over 70 songs then trimming the fat down to 14. Full of upbeat pop-folk gems like the title track “Be My Thrill” and “How Do You Get High,” the duo showcase an ability to not only write terrific toe-tapping songs, but also tracks with deep lyrical content regarding love, death, and everything in between.

While Be My Thrill isn’t necessarily a new sound for the band—they’ve been doing the same folk-pop-duo thing for nearly 10 years—it is refreshing to see the influence having a child has brought to their music. They’ve always had a kid-friendly sound, but you get a strong lullaby feel here.

Catch them on tour this fall (they haven’t toured in the past three years, so who knows when to expect them out on the road again). Check out the cute animated video below for the title track “Be My Thrill” and you’ll be an instant fan.

  1. Really interesting blog post. Your post is really interesting. I enjoyed this post. This blog post is wonderful! I have to say that after continually reading poor as in, same old information, little quality content, etc. blog posts on other sites, it’s nice to actually read something that has some thought put into it. It’s a pleasure to read quality article posts, especially after continually seeing rehashed crap that writers and bloggers are throwing out nowadays. It’s always nice when I come across content that actually has value, I’ve been seeing a ton of subpar writing attempts recently. Anyways, thanks again and I’ll check back frequently to see what else you have to offer. I’ll check back in the future to see what else you have up your sleeve. Keep up the high-quality work! BTW, I like your site design, but your header image was only loading half way for me. P.S. Your header is messed up a bit in IE. The problem could be on my end but I thought you might want to look into that.
