Liars
Sisterworld
[Mute U.S.]
Liars are truly an unclassifiable band. You can call them experimental, post-punk, ambient, dark-synth-pop or avant-garde but every time you think you have the band figured out, they release a new album that sounds totally different. No one Liars album sounds like the other. But that’s the beauty of Liars, they can experiment with vastly different sounds and still undeniably be Liars. The band continues this tradition with Sisterworld. This latest album finds the band recording back in L.A. where they originally met. Back to the roots, if you will, and the album certainly reflects this. Sisterworld draws sounds and styles from the group’s previous albums and brings them together in a cohesive opera of sonic noise and percussion, as if the band has come full circle both in sound and location. Like the soundtrack to a bad dream, Sisterworld twists and turns through 11 danceable, spooky and downright terrifying songs that tell tales of murder, neglect, lost identity and more murder.
