ALBUM REVIEW: “Love Destroyer” by Oak & Gorski

Oak & Gorski
Love Destroyer
[Cello Rock Records]

Cello rock, anyone? Love Destroyer, the 4th release from Oak & Gorski (Cello Rock Records) delivers! Generally described as a folk-rock duo, these Southern California natives are attempting to “spread CELLO ROCK to the masses.”

What is cello rock, you might ask? Love Destroyer can best be described as a collection of melodic, flowing, light-hearted love songs somewhere in the vein of American folk music. Vibrant two-part harmonies are blended with simply layered acoustic guitar and cello-driven chords that are destined to appeal to the masses.

At first, the album seems a bit trite and superficial (think romantic comedy montage or the season finale of Friends), but a second listen will leave you with some thoughtful poetry and catchy melodies to hum.
