HEAR THIS: Klarälven

The umlaut in Klarälven might as well be meteors hurling themselves toward Earth because each song feels like its own spacey adventure. For this Swedish electropop project, the name of the game is to create brilliant synths imitating the burning of stars, the imminence of the Sun, data being dispersed, and a grand asteroid belt, one that listeners feel like they are dodging with each note. From the adventurous “New Years Day” and “Whyhow” to the cries on “Civil War,” this group is bound to satisfy those wanting to leave the planet for a while.
