Diversions Vol. 1: The Songs of Robert Wyatt and Antony & the Johnsons, Live from The Union Chapel
[RabbleRouser Music]

On their fifth but first live album Diversions Vol. 1: The Songs of Robert Wyatt and Antony & the Johnsons, The Unthanks masterfully perform some selections from Robert Wyatt and Antony & the Johnsons, while adding their own unique English folk flavor. The songs for the album were performed over two sold-out nights at the Union Chapel in London. While the shows made The Independent newspaper’s “Gigs of the Year” list, the songs embody their eccentric musical style and the angelically soothing voices of the sisters – Rachel and Becky Unthank. Backed by a prominent piano, string quartet, and a trumpet that adds some adrenaline that gets the crowd clapping and considering clog dancing, this live performance brings us as close to the stage as possible without being at the venue. The banter and camaraderie between the band members and the crowd also adds to the ambiance and lets us know that The Unthanks can have fun with their enormous talent to create music. Here is what Robert Wyatt and Antony Hegarty had to say:

“I love the idea. It makes me happy just thinking about it.” — Robert Wyatt
“I am flattered and mystified! Their voices are so pure.” — Antony Hegarty
