This is a Fat Wreck Chords release, so what do we expect? Snare-bass-snare-bass punk rock and lots of energy – great for the high school kiddies. How refreshing to hear a band like Bad Astronaut with a decent range in its mix of lightish rock with punk undertones. This sunny, non-invasive sound is perfect wind-down music; the kind of thing you can listen to and ignore at the same time.
For times when you are actually tuning in, be prepared for Weezer flashbacks. They are particularly abundant.
Mainly, this album is pleasant and understated and won’t nag you out of your own thoughts. If you had a really bad hangover and wanted something mellow to listen to that wouldn’t depress you, here you go. It’s a difficult combination to achieve but this album has it down.
