PICTURE THIS: Born Ruffians + Moon King @ Detroit Bar, Costa Mesa 5/5/13

Tucked away in a tiny, unassuming shopping center lies Costa Mesa’s seminal dive: Detroit Bar. While mostly hosting local acts and karaoke nights, occasionally their calendar will feature acts that are making a pit stop between bigger dates. The latest occurrence of this was Ontario, Canada’s Born Ruffians, who stopped by to preface their sold out date at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Support came in the shape of Toronto’s Moon King, headed by the enigmatic Daniel Benjamin and arresting Maddy Wilde. We were overcome by Moon King’s ability to fully engage the crowd, drawing each person closer with every song.
